About the author
Shruti Suman
Shruti Suman, born in 2004 in Deoghar, Jharkhand, is a poet who writes from the quiet places most people are afraid to name.
At just 16, she was diagnosed with depression and OCD, beginning years of silent emotional battles that reshaped how she saw the worldâand herself. Now 21, Shruti is pursuing History Honours at Delhi University, where her academic curiosity meets a deeply introspective creative voice.
Writing became her refuge when words felt heavier than breath. Through poetry, she learned to confront buried emotions, accept vulnerability as strength, and search for light without denying darkness. Her work does not promise easy healing; instead, it offers honesty, recognition, and companionship.
A multilingual writer, Shruti weaves English poetry with subtle French and Spanish extracts, blending emotional rawness with philosophical reflection. Her words speak to those who feel too much, too deeply, or not enoughâreminding them that unseen battles are still real.
The Veil is not just her debutâit is her courage made visible.
About the 1st book
The Veil
The Veil is a mirror held up to emotional and mental scarsâpoetry born from lived experiences of depression, anxiety, and OCD.
Written during and after battles that began at sixteen, these poems capture numbness, fear, confusion, and fragile hope. They are not polished victories, but honest breathsâdesperate cries slowly transforming into healing.
This collection believes that healing does not begin with strength, but with acceptance. With naming emotions. With allowing weakness to exist without shame. Each poem gently lifts a layer of silence, revealing truths many carry but rarely speak.
Blending English with French and Spanish excerpts, The Veil moves between languages the way pain moves between thoughtsâquiet, persistent, and deeply personal.
For readers who feel unseen, unheard, or overwhelmed, this book does not offer solutions. It offers presence. It whispers: You are not alone.
